How to Use Miswak

Below we will guide step by step on how to use miswak stick, how to make the bristles on the top of the twig and how to brush teeth from it.  Using or applying miswak is very easy to do. A very fresh miswak is usually brown in colour and its taste is so refreshing.

Step 1

First of all wash your miswak twig from drinking water.

Step 2

Miswak is a twig of the Arak tree, its look like a normal tree twig and it is usually cut in 15 centimeter size by the supplier. To use it first you have to trim it from the top of any side and remove the outer layer, the trim area can be between 0.5 inch to 1 inch depends what you like.

Step 3

The third step is to make bristles of the trim area, usually the bristles of miswak twig not come out immediately and you have to chew it until the bristles become separated.

Step 4

If your miswak twig is harder in chewing then take some drinking water in a clean bowl and pour the bristles in it for few hours and then try again to chew it.

Step 5

After the above mentioned procedures the bristles will start spreading slightly and then you have to use it on your teeth to form them properly.

Step 6

After the bristles are formed properly use this twig on your teeth like you do toothbrush. Do it twice a day or every time after taking meal for good results, and don’t forget to wash the bristles after every use.

Step 7

After every 3 to 4 days cut the used bristles and repeat the above steps to get fresh bristles.

Note: It is important to know that to some people who are using toothbrush from many years using miswak may feel inconvenience because you are new to this procedure, but after using it for few days it will become a normal routine and after all the benefits packed in it are far more then this little inconvenience for the long life of your teeth, gums and overall oral health, and also you will get rid of adding a lot of ineffective chemicals on your teeth through the toothpaste.
